HEADLINE

Thank you for visiting my web site and for your continued and generous support of my campaign for reelection to the New Hampshire Senate. I am honored to have served the citizens of District 24 as their state Senator for the past six years, and before that, for twelve years representing the City of Portsmouth as a member of the NH House of Representatives. I hope to continue to represent these communities and the citizens of Greenland, Hampton, Hampton Falls, New Castle, Newington, North Hampton, Portsmouth, and Rye for two more years.

I am running for reelection because I believe the Seacoast needs to have a Senator with a long, committed and successful record of caring about this area and all the people who live here. Working closely with Governor Lynch over the past six years, I am proud of my accomplishments, including creating incentives for new jobs and a stronger economy through green initiatives, lowering the drop out rate in our schools by 30% and expanding access to health care, particularly for our young people and our children.

As Chair of the Senate Energy, Environment and Economic Development Committee, I have been a leader within the state in the development of renewable energy and energy related jobs. I supported the funding for the redevelopment of Hampton Beach. I fought for the construction of a sound barrier for Atlantic Heights and for new monies to improve the bridge between Seabrook and Hampton. I am continuing the fight to insure the reconstruction of the Memorial Bridge. Through this most difficult, economic period, I have insisted on developing and revising a responsible budget without gambling or any broad based taxes.

Next year, my focus will be:

  • Stregthening our economy through additional incentives for new jobs.

  • Forging an honest and responsible budget without any sales or income taxes.

  • Streamlining government services.

  • Lowering energy costs through increased efficiency.

  • Eliminating donor towns.

  • Targeting education dollars to towns that need them the most.

  • Lowering health insurance costs.
